GALLERY5X7 welcomes Mohan Bhasker to our community of artists and collectors! We are excited to feature a number of Mohan’s beautiful platinum/palladium and toned silver gelatin prints for purchase. These handcrafted alternative process prints are wonderful additions to our galleries.

Artist Bio

As a young boy living in India, Mohan Bhasker’s love for photography began by assisting his father in the darkroom.  Mohan is a self-taught photographer that has travelled and photographed all seven continents.  His photography subjects reflect his passion for trekking, travel and nature.

His formal education made him a doctor, but the things he experienced while exploring with his camera made him the person he is today.  Spending countless hours with people from all over the world and walk of life, from the poorest to the wealthiest, has helped him understand and relate to human beings on a spiritual level.

Mohan shoots with medium and large format cameras. He processes his own black & white and color film and hand-crafts both silver gelatin and platinum palladium darkroom prints.  Both are darkroom processes that date back to the beginning of Photography.

Mohan’s photography has been exhibited in exclusive galleries in the USA. His photographs depict remote regions, where few travelers venture.  He currently teaches darkroom printing processes in his studio and in El Camino Community College.

Mohan Bhasker is primarily an analog film photographer who lives in Los Angeles, California.

We welcome Mohan to our community of artists and collectors.

"Gypsy In The Sahara Desert, Morocco" © Mohan Bhasker. I continued my journey in the Sahara Desert trying to find sceneries that spoke of the desert life. My eyes lit up when I encountered a Moroccan woman fetching water from the well. I walked around the woman to find the perfect backdrop to signify the desert which included two camels in the background. The stonewall of the well, the water bucket, rope, metal post and stream of water made a perfect combination for me to use platinum/palladium to bring out the best in the picture. Approx. 6x9" (15x23cm) or 12x18" (31x46cm) handcrafted alternative process photograph (platinum/palladium) on Revere Platinum. Signed, original editioned (1/10) print offered by GALLERY5X7.

About GALLERY5X7

GALLERY5X7 promotes the work of represented artists to facilitate direct connections between artists and potential collectors/buyers. We are breaking the traditional art gallery sales model; we do not directly sell prints or take a sales commission as do other galleries, instead we facilitate sales directly between the artist and collector and rely on the financial support of the community we serve to place a value on our services. We trust our community will reward us if we provide a valued service.

GALLERY5X7 facilitates direct connections between artists and collectors as we believe this approach establishes a personal connection and trust that can lead to long-term relationships – relationships that we intend to foster, not get between.  We hope you will find our “get the gallery out of the way” approach refreshing!
